Anti- Police Brutality

This summer, members of the Kosove Society, along with the rest of the United States, watched as issues of racial justice, police brutality, and systemic racism were once again thrust into the national spotlight and the names of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd became household names. We affirm that Black Lives Matter, and we condemn extrajudicial killings and violence. For some members of the Kosove Society, these conversations about race, and about the violence that members of Black communities in particular face across the United States are already part of their lived experiences.  For others, these conversations are somewhat new. Though each of us is at a different point on our journeys to understanding and participating in these conversations, what unites all of us as a community are our shared experiences as Kosove scholars, and our lifelong commitment to the ideals of the Kosove Society; academic excellence, leadership, and service.

As an organization committed to service and equity, we want to highlight community-based groups that are working towards racial justice in America. The opportunities to support the Black Lives Matter movement go beyond trending topics, hashtags, and protests. We encourage everyone to be anti-racist in their personal and professional lives and to learn more about and support the BLM movement. Many student organizations, Colleges, and Departments at USF have created anti-racism resource pages and we encourage you to use these resources. The USF Office of the President has created an Anti-Racist Resources page that can be found here.
